Best Family Resorts in Menorca

Son Bou, Binibeca, Cala Galdana, Cala’n Bosch and Punta Prima are amongst some of the best family resorts in Menorca. Most of Menorca is family orientated.

Here are some suggestions for the best family resorts that regular visitors to the island and local businesses have come up with:

Cala en Bosch pic

Cala'n Bosch is just eight kilometres (just under 5 miles) from Ciutadella, is a great option for a family holiday.

It is quite a busy place and has various attributes as well as the beachside restaurants. At both Cala’n Bosch and nearby Son Xoriguer, you will find coves which is a bit of fun for the kids in the day. Take a stroll into the heart of the marina where you will find restaurants, boutiques, shops, ice creams (yum) and even some street vendors.

Cala’n Bosch is one of the popular resorts on the island and offers everything you need in an upbeat part of the island.

Melia Cala Galdana

We would pick this one out as one of our personal favourites, Cala Galdana has the perfect horseshoe beach with no large waves and warm water making it perfect for the kids to play.

The beach covers a large area and that gives plenty of room to enjoy under the supervision of lifeguards dotted along the shoreline.

Cala Galdana Beach

Plenty of restaurants dotted along the promenade road near the marina on the creek. There is plenty of cover from the midday sun off the beach with the pine trees which makes for a welcome break and time to go exploring.

You can take a trip on a boat and there are also kayak rentals which are excellent. The boat taxi also stops off here taking you further up the coast for a day out taking in the fabulous Meditteranean Sea there and back.

Children can have fun on the water slides at the Tobogán restaurant, or even play a bit of mini-golf. In the evenings you can find various activities and a bit of dancing for children at the shopping centre, and the Hotel Cala Galdana has some great entertainment on offer including free children's shows as well.

Punta Prima Menorca

Menorca’s Punta Prima is just a short journey away from Mahon airport (about 10km) which is no more than 25 minutes. It has a lovely safe beach which is ideal for families and couples and as its slightly smaller, it tends to be quieter for younger children. Plenty of places to stay on holiday with a mix of apartments and villas. A few hotels around the resort including Barcelo Pueblo Hotel and the Insotel Punta Prima.

There is a good scattering of restaurants where you can sit and enjoy the sunshine and relax having a cooling drink. Punta Prima apartments are centrally located and excellent for families and young children.

The beach is ideal for younger children with its shallow waters and lots of rocks to explore for the more adventurous. Spectacular views across the waters to the island of Isla Del Aire well know for its black lizards along with its lighthouse and harbour for yachts to moor up.

You can take a nice trip out to Binibeca along the coast from Punta Prima on the road train. Runs regularly both in the morning and afternoons. Great fun and makes for a fab trip to Binibeca Beach. There is also a bus service to Mahon from the resort (Mahon via Sant Lluis) which is very good.

Facilities to cater for most of your needs with one larger supermarket and two smaller ones. There is also an ATM machine and a 7 day a week chemist. Punta Prima also has a street market for your chance to buy some local produce on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays in the summer season from June to mid-Sept.

Recommended Family Resorts at Menorca from Local Businesses

We have also asked some of the islands trusted businesses ‘where would be a great resort for families to stay in Menorca’ and here are their suggestions:

MPO logo

“At Menorca Private Owners we focus on the untouched areas of the island and stay clear from the touristy areas where the large tour companies operate. Menorca is great for young families and the areas we recommend are Binibeca or Alaior

A villa holiday in Binibeca allows families to be within walking distance from a pretty beach and a great selection of restaurants, bars and shops making it very convenient.

Binibeca Beach Menorca

For those looking to be in a town then Alaior is a good choice; it’s a great area to explore with the family and its central location means it’s only a short drive away from the stunning north and south coast beaches.”
