Mahon Airport  (MAH) Essential Guide

Mahon Airport Informational Guide to Menorca Airport (MAH) is located in the southeast of the island, about 4.5 kilometres from the capital Mahón.

It is the only airport on this Balearic Island.

It was opened in 1969 and although Menorca Airport started out as a modest airport, today it has 16 gates. In 2008 it was completely renovated. The airport of Menorca, also called Mahón Airport or in Spanish Aeropuerte de Menorca, has the IATA code MAH.

From the UK airports, the flight time to this beautiful island is only just over 2 hours for air traffic to and from Menorca.

Most of the passengers flying into the airport are foreign visitors. Minorca/Menorca may be considered to be less crowded than its brothers Ibiza and Mallorca, yet the island can count on healthy holidaymakers every year.

The number of domestic passengers is also high. The main airports to which Menorca Airport is connected are Barcelona, Madrid and Palma de Mallorca. These are important transfer points for foreign passengers from other European destinations. Several airlines such as Iberia, EasyJet, Jet2, Transavia, Vueling, TUIfly and Brussels Airlines fly to Mahón.

From the UK you can use various airlines to the island. The airport can count on approximately 3.4 million passengers annually. Air traffic to and from the island has increased enormously over the past twenty years. Most flights take place between May and mid-October, the months that fall within the summer season. August is the busiest month.

There are a couple of flights off season from the UK from Gatwick operated by Easyjet, This can change depending on the current covid restrictions affecting both Spain and the UK.

Menorca Airport Transfers

When you land at Mahon, and you have passed through customs, we recommend one of the easiest and quickest ways to get to your hotel or villa is by a private taxi.

We always use one of two to make a swift transfer between the airport and our accommodation.

As you come through in the arrivals hall, both Suntransfers and Holiday Taxi drivers await with a board with your name on it. 2 minutes walk to the car park where the private hire companies park and you are on your way.

Our personal favourite is Suntransfers. Usually high spec cars and friendly helpful drivers that speak good English. We have always been picked up on time with Suntransfers. *Recommended

Also we use Holiday Taxis, again offering a similar service to Suntransfers. They have friendly drivers and on time. Click below to get a no obligation quote before you book. The websites are both easy to use and payment made online in advance.

Private hire are not the cheapest, but what we like is the reliability no fuss quick transfers which is worth every penny (Euro).
