Menorca Airport - Essential Guide
Menorca Airport is located in the southeast of the island, about 4.5 kilometres from the capital Mahón.
It is the only airport on this Balearic Island.
It was opened in 1969 and although Menorca Airport started out as a modest airport, today it has 16 gates. In 2008 it was completely renovated. The airport of Menorca, also called Mahón Airport or in Spanish Aeropuerte de Menorca, has the IATA code MAH.
From the UK airports, the flight time to this beautiful island is only just over 2 hours for air traffic to and from Menorca.
Most of the passengers flying into the airport are foreign visitors. Minorca/Menorca may be considered to be less crowded than its brothers Ibiza and Mallorca, yet the island can count on healthy holidaymakers every year.
The number of domestic passengers is also high. The main airports to which Menorca Airport is connected are Barcelona, Madrid and Palma de Mallorca. These are important transfer points for foreign passengers from other European destinations. Several airlines such as Iberia, EasyJet, Jet2, Transavia, Vueling, TUIfly and Brussels Airlines fly to Mahón.
From the UK you can use various airlines to the island. The airport can count on approximately 3.4 million passengers annually. Air traffic to and from the island has increased enormously over the past twenty years. Most flights take place between May and mid-October, the months that fall within the summer season. August is the busiest month.
There are a couple of flights off season from the UK from Gatwick operated by Easyjet, This can change depending on the current covid restrictions affecting both Spain and the UK.

Compared to some airports, Menorca is a small but well equiped airport. It has a VIP lounge on level 3 which you can access for 33 Eur. In the baggage hall there are food and drink vending machines, so you can always get a snack to eat and drink. To keep the kids entertained, there are a couple of play areas for younger children.
